Starting therapy

You do not need a diagnosis, a crisis, or a perfectly organized explanation before reaching out. Therapy may be worth exploring if you feel overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, depressed, affected by past experiences, or simply ready to understand yourself more clearly. A free consultation gives you space to ask questions and decide whether Anne’s approach feels like a good fit.

The consultation is a brief, no-pressure conversation about what brings you to therapy, what you hope will change, and whether Total Wellness may fit your needs. You can also ask questions about Anne’s approach and next steps.

No. Many people begin with only a general sense that something feels difficult or out of balance. Part of therapy involves making sense of what you are experiencing and identifying goals together.

Your first session is primarily a conversation. Anne will ask about what brought you in, what has been happening recently, and what you hope to gain from therapy. You control the pace, and you do not have to disclose everything at once.

A strong therapeutic fit matters. If the connection or approach does not feel right, that does not mean therapy cannot help. It may mean another clinician would suit you better, and it is reasonable to keep looking.

Sessions & approach

Sessions are typically 50 minutes.

Clients generally meet weekly when beginning therapy. Frequency can change based on your needs, progress, availability, and treatment plan.

Anne describes her approach as direct, practical, grounded, and trauma-informed. She asks real questions, helps clients notice patterns, and offers tools they can use outside the therapy room without pushing them faster than they are ready to go.

Therapy is collaborative. Anne can help you understand patterns, consider options, and develop useful skills, but you remain responsible for your choices and the direction of your life.

There is no universal timeline. The length of therapy depends on your goals, circumstances, preferences, and progress. You and Anne can revisit the plan together as your needs change.
